“For a charity like ours, which delivers a clinical service to children with special needs, it’s really important to present a professional image to parents, medical people and supporters. Soar’s consistent help means we can afford to have high quality print material for our day-to-day needs, as well as special events like our annual gala fundraiser.”

• We actively promote sound environmental management to our staff. To achieve continuous improvement in environmental performance, Soar Print has committed itself to the EnviroMark scheme under Landcare research. Out of the five environmental awards Soar has achieved the highest level - Diamond. At this level we now have in place ISO 14001, a fully certified environmental management system.
• We measure our greenhouse gas emissions, commit to reducing them and offset any emissions we cannot avoid by purchasing verified carbon credits. This is done through under Landcare’s internationally accredited carboNZero certification program which is ISO14064-1 compliant. In May 2010 we became the first Corporate printing organisation to achieve certification under the main CarboNZero certification program. We reduced our ghg emissions by 20% in 2010 and have set in a place a program to reduce these emissions by a further 10% in 2011.
• Soar Print actively support sourcing paper from responsible forest management schemes such as FSC and PEFC and were the first printing company in New Zealand to achieve certification in both FSC and PEFC.
• We design, manufacture and deliver our products in a manner that complies with all legislative requirements that apply to our business.
• Whenever possible, we go beyond legal requirements by proactively identifying and implementing additional improvements to minimise the environmental impacts of our operations.
• Our practices minimise waste and the consumption of resources, such as natural energies, fuels, water and raw materials. We monitor energy use and saving plans are in place to decrease and drive our usage down.
• We minimise the environmental health and safety risks to our employees and the communities in which we operate, by employing safe technologies, proven operating procedures and by always being prepared for emergencies.
• We try to source raw materials that are less damaging to the environment. Sustainable natural resources are always our first choice. When non-renewable natural resources are the only option, we endeavour to use them as efficiently as possible.
• Our procurement policy outlines requirements for the purchase of new plant. In making purchasing decisions we look at the environmental impacts, lifecycle and energy usage of the items.
• We continue to reduce, with the aim of eliminating, the production of polluting releases which have significant impacts on the environment.
The senior management of Soar Print actively support this policy by regularly reviewing our achievements, targets and objectives. All our staff are assessed on their commitment to this policy. We commit management resources to the implementation and monitoring of each policy aim.
